Unemployment levels fall across the region

Unemployment has fallen across the region, new figures released today have revealed.

In the last three months, the number of people out of work fell by 9,000 to 201,000 (6.5% of the workforce) in the East of England.

The number of people unemployed in the East Midlands increased by 5,000 193,000 (8.3% of the workforce).

Overall, across both areas, the total number unemployed is 394,000, that is 4,000 fewer than the previous three months.
