£26m sports village opens doors
A state of the art sports village has opened in Bedfordshire.
The Inspire Luton complex includes a gym, studios, sports hall, swimming pool and one of the best diving facilities in the country.
It has taken just under two years to build and cost Luton Borough Council £26 million.
The Active Luton trust has been commissioned to run the sports village.
Its Chief Executive, Helen Barnett, said: "What a perfect time to be opening when the public are so happy about sport and so interested. We certainly hope that will turn people to use this place."
It opened to the public at 2pm this afternoon. Hundreds of people came to see it and many seemed impressed with the new facilities. One man from the town told us: "I think it's terrific. First impression walking in the building - fantastic."
