Bedfordshire track cyclist Victoria Pendleton bids to make further progress in the women's sprint later today (Monday 6th August).

She will race in the quarter finals against Olga Panarina of Belarus. Pendleton, who helped Team GB win the women's team sprint on Friday, set a new Olympic record in qualifying at the Velodrome yesterday (Sunday).

She then eased through both the first and second rounds of the competition, first against Ekaterina Gnidenko of Russia, and then Willy Kanis of Holland.
