A 14-year-old girl has won the first ever Six Bridge river swim in Norwich.

Sophie Alden beat 89 other competitors, mainly adults, to swim a mile of the River Wensum.

It was all part of the Lord Mayor's Olympic-themed celebrations which also included a 5km run and road and cycle race.

The race took place early this morning, with swimmers plunging into the water at New Mills Yard in the City, with the finishing line at the historic Cow Tower.

The event follows on from last night's Lord Mayor's Procession and Fireworks display.
