Suffolk's Chris Walker-Hebborn in Team GB swimming squad
Suffolk's Chris Walker-Hebborn is one of seven swimmers who have been added to Team GB's swimming squad for the Olympics after their performances at the British Gas ASA National Championships in Sheffield.
Walker-Hebborn, from Bury St Edmunds, won the 200 metres Backstroke final to clinch his place. He'll also compete in the 100 metres Backstroke in London.
In March Walker-Hebborn finished third in the final of the same event at London's Aquatic Centre. This time he produced a season's best time of 1 minute 57.17 seconds in Sheffield, well under the 1 minute 58.48 required for nomination for the Olympics squad. It also puts him ninth in the world rankings.
Afterwards the 21 year old, who competes for Team Bath swimming club tweeted, 'Slowly sinking in, can't believe it, thank you everyone for the messages and support, its been amazing... Makes it worthwhile'.
