The Crown Prosecution Service has dropped five charges of attempted murder related to a firearms incident on the A47 in Cambridgeshire in 2011 which ended in a car crash.

Jason Upton from Parsons Drove near Wisbech was due to appear in court on Thursday but the case has been closed due to insufficient evidence. Mr Upton had pleaded not guilty at an earlier hearing.

The A47 was closed for ten hours after the incident at Guyhirn last November.
