About sixty firefighters have managed to bring a fire at Chilford Hall in Cambridgeshire under control.

There are currently 10 fire engines on the scene, but this will soon be reduced to four.

Crews have been at the venue in Linton since about 3am this morning after a member of the public spotted smoke coming from a building. A barn used as function room has been destroyed.

A spokesman for the fire service said: “Crews are still at the scene. They have managed to stop the fire spreading to a shop and a wine store on the site but the barn has been completely destroyed by the fire.

“Police are at the scene and a joint investigation by police and fire into the cause of the fire is taking place.”
