Wet spring ramps up pressure on water companies
Pressure appears to be growing on water companies in our region to lift their hosepipe bans.
The Environment Agency is due to release a report tomorrow detailing the most recent water supplies and rainfall levels. It comes after what was for many parts of the region the wettest April on record, followed by a four day bank holiday of further deluges.
The hosepipe ban began in parts of the Anglia region on the 5th April 2012. A spokesman for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural affairs (Defra) said "no-one wants to see water restrictions in areas if they are no longer needed.”
