Strike action over cuts announced
Our region's coastguards and driving test examiners have announced they are to join strike action from the end of the week in protest at spending cuts, job losses and pensions.
A two hour walkout will be held on Friday by driving examiners, followed by a week-long series of short strikes by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. Hundreds of PCS Union members across the east will be involved in the action.
The Government say contingency plans are in place to ensure the delivery of essential services continue throughout the planned strike action.
The Coalition is facing a growing number of disputes. Doctors and teachers are also warning of industrial action.
