Anglia Archive: The Queen in Ipswich in 2002

The Golden Jubilee in 2002 was marked in Suffolk by a visit of the Queen. She was in Ipswich, Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds.

The Ipswich leg of the visit included officially opening the newly revamped Ipswich Waterfront where the crowds turned out by the thousand.

While 2002 marked 50 years of the Queen's reign and there were widespread national celebrations it was also tinged with sadness as her sister Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother died in this year. In other news events:
