Robertson misses out on Olympic place
Milton Keynes badminton player Nathan Robertson will not be part of Team GB at the 2012 Olympic Games.
Robertson, 35 today, and partner Jenny Wallwork have missed out on selection for the London Games, edged out by Chris Adcock and Imogen Bankier, who beat them in the recent European Championships.
Adcock and Bankier were widely expected to have their places confirmed after finishing the Olympic qualification period ranked 10th in the world. Their selection means there will be no place for Robertson and his new partner, who were 17th when qualifying ended.
Having aimed to end his career on a high with a final shot at Olympic gold on home soil, Robertson is now expected to confirm his retirement, bringing to a close a 14 year international career. In that time, Robertson won 8 Comonwealth medals, including gold in 2006 with former mixed doubles partner Gail Emms. The pair will be best remembered though, for their silver medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
