Campaign to keep Suffolk naval history alive
Former HMS Ganges boys are trying to keep naval heritage of Shotley alive, by encouraging more people to volunteer at the Suffolk museum. The HMS Ganges museum attracts visitors from around the world, but a lack of volunteers means they are unable to open as frequently as they would like.
The museum was set up in its current form in 1994. It aims to educate the public about the Royal Navy through its displays of photos, honours boards, clocks and the ship's figurehead.
It's hoped this new campaign will get more people involved in the project and preserve the history of the Suffolk naval base.
