The UK Border Agency says its working with Northampton Borough Council to deal with camps set up by homeless migrants in the town, thought to be from Eastern Europe.

Last week the local Conservative MP Michael Ellis raised concerns about a small encampment close to the A45.

Now a second camp has been discovered on the site of the town's former power station.

A spokesman for the UK Border Agency said it is working closely with Northampton Borough Council and other agencies to deal with the challenges presented by rough sleeping and anti-social behaviour.

Cllr Mary Markham from Northampton Borough Council believes the problem is no worse than in any other UK town.

Northampton Hope Centre, which helps the town's homeless said the migrant camps are small in scale.

Manager Richard Appleby says it is a result of seasonal work coming to an end.
