"Supergran" Ann Timson gets bravery award from the Queen
Ann Timson, the grandmother who tackled armed raiders in Northampton town centre with only her handbag, has been given a Queen’s Commendation for Bravery.
Ann Timson, who was 71 at the time, stopped a raid on a jeweller's shop in 2011 and it led to her being dubbed "Supergran".
Her exploits were captured on camera by a television crew who happened to be filming in the area in February 2011. The images became an internet sensation and Ann Timson became famous all over the world.
