F1 racing teams from the East gear up for Australian Grand Prix

Red Bull based at Milton Keynes is competing in Formula One Credit: Red Bull Racing

Formula One racing teams based in the East have performed well in practice at the Australian Grand Prix.

Seven-time champion Michael Schumacher, who drives for Mercedes based at Brackley, Northamptonshire, set the pace in second practice.

Second fastest was Nico Hulkenberg who drives for Silverstone-based Force India.

Heikki Kovalainen, who drives for Caterham based at Hingham, Norfolk, was eighth fastest and the two Red Bulls, from Milton Keynes, came in 10th and 11th.

Earlier in the day, in first practice, Lewis Hamilton, from Stevenage, was narrowly beaten by McLaren team-mate Jenson Button who took the top spot.

Third practice and qualifying takes place on Saturday and the race will be held at 6am on Sunday.
