Travellers take council to court
Lawyers for the travellers at Dale Farm in Essex have gone to the Court of Appeal to argue that Basildon Council needs to supply "culturally appropriate accommodation."
Eighty-three families were evicted from the site four months ago.
The council offered them bricks and mortar homes but the travellers say they want pitches for their mobile homes instead because houses or flats don't fit into their distinctive culture and lifestyle.
The case is set to end tomorrow.
