Police revisit Aberdeen river where missing Hungarian sisters were last seen
Police have revisited an Aberdeen river where two Hungarian sisters went missing last Tuesday as the search for them enters its second week.
Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, both 32, were last seen on CCTV on Market Street at Victoria Bridge at about 2.12am on January 7.
The siblings - who are part of a set of triplets - were seen crossing the bridge and turning right onto a footpath next to the River Dee.
Officers have concentrated their search on the River Dee since early Tuesday morning, as there is no evidence the pair left the area.
They have spoken to pedestrians and drivers to gather more information about the sisters' movements.
Other extensive searches have been carried out in recent days with the police helicopter, dog branch and the marine unit among the specialist resources involved.
Superintendent David Howieson said: “We remain extremely concerned for Eliza and Henrietta as our searches enter a second week.
“Considerable efforts are being made to search the river and the surrounding area. We have spoken to a number of people in the course of our enquiries, including overnight, a week on from when they were last seen.
“We continue to examine all the available CCTV footage to try and establish the sisters’ movements in the early hours of Tuesday, 7 January.
“We remain in regular contact with Eliza and Henrietta’s family in Hungary and continue to provide them with support."
Their sister, Edit Huszti, the third triplet, told the BBC she spoke to them on New Year's Eve and they seemed happy.
She described the sisters as very close, often staying at home to watch movies.
Edit added that it was unusual for them to be out on the streets in the early hours.
Their brother, Jozsef, also thanked the public for their support in a social media post on Saturday.
Eliza and Henrietta are both described as white and of slim build with long, brown hair.
