Actor Cameron Mathison speaks of 'guttural pain' after finding home destroyed in California fires
Mathison describes the "guttural pain" he felt upon seeing his home destroyed by the fires
US actor Cameron Mathison has said he has "nothing left" after returning to his Los Angeles home to discover it had been "decimated" by wildfires.
The General Hospital star is among numerous celebrities who have lost their homes in the fires, including media personality Paris Hilton and actors Billy Crystal and John Goodman.
Wildfires have swept through the suburbs of Los Angeles since Tuesday, turning its star-studded streets into a "hellscape," leaving at least five people dead and hundreds of thousands forced to flee.
Mathison told ITV News affiliate CNN he saw his neighbourhood engulfed in flames on the news and returned to the home he and his family had fled.
He filmed the utter devastation left by the fires, capturing the ash and crumbled concrete, and shared the footage on Instagram.
He said: "It was just totally decimated. Like, there were many, as you saw in the video, houses houses and fires. But our street in particular... there was pretty much nothing left.
"It's kind of a guttural pain, disbelief, shock and fear as I was approaching my property and not seeing the house.
"It looked like, in many cases, there were no houses ever built there. It was just decimated to nothing."
