Full list of NHS hospitals declaring a critical incident
NHS hospitals in England have declared critical incidents due to rising demand from winter illnesses and the impact of recent severe weather.
A critical incident is declared when the level of disruption means hospitals are unable to deliver critical services and may not be able to operate safely.
This comes as the number of patients in hospitals in England with flu has quadrupled in the last month.
Non-urgent patients have been warned of long waits in A&E and have been urged to “consider other options," such as contacting their GP, visiting a pharmacy or calling NHS 111.
Here is the full list of hospitals that have declared a critical incident:
Royal Liverpool University Hospital
Derriford Hospital, Plymouth
Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital
Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester
Royal Cornwall Hospital
Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham
Solihull Hospital
Good Hope Hospital, Birmingham
