'I never regretted waiving my anonymity': Gisèle Pelicot's statement in full
Gisèle Pelicot thanks supporters in a statement outside court in Avignon, France, after her husband and 50 men were sentenced for sexually assaulting her
"This trial was a very difficult test, and at this moment, first and foremost, I'm thinking of my three children, David, Caroline and Florian.
I'm also thinking of my grandchildren because they are the future - and it was also for them that I led this fight. I'm also thinking of Oran and Celene.
I am also thinking of all the other families affected by this. Finally, I think of the victims who have gone unrecognised, whose stories have often stayed in the shadows. I want you to know that we share the same fight.
I want to express my sincere gratitude to all the people who supported me every step of the way on this trial, and for their testimony. You gave me the strength to return every day to carry on this difficult trial.
I want to thank the Association of Victims, your support to me has been immeasurable.
To all the journalists who have followed this since the start, I want to express my sincere thanks for your truthful and respectful coverage every day for your audience.
Finally, to my lawyers, I want to give you all my thanks for all your support for accompanying me on every step of this very difficult journey.
I wanted, in opening the doors of this trial on the 2nd of September, for society to see what was happening.
I have never regretted this decision.I now have confidence in our capacity to collectively seize a future where everyone, men and women, can live in harmony in mutual respect and understanding. Thank you."
