Covid: Another 54 deaths recorded as further 43,992 coronavirus cases reported
Another 43,992 Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the UK and a further 54 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test have been reported.
The government figures, which cover the 24 hours to 9am on Sunday, bring the UK's total Covid death toll to 145,605, with 10,464,389 positive cases logged since the start of the pandemic.
Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have now been 170,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
It came as the latest figures from the UK Health Security Agency showed as of Sunday, a further 86 cases of the Omicron variant had been reported across the UK – taking the total so far to 246.

England
A further 41 deaths within 28 days of a Covid tests and another 37,396 cases were logged.
Scotland
One more Covid-related death has been recorded in Scotland and a further 2,607 cases reported.
Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland recorded another seven deaths and 1,422 coronavirus cases.
Wales
Wales recorded another five Covid-related deaths and a further 2,567 coronavirus cases.
