Giant puppet Little Amal follows route of Syrian refugees escaping war

A group of drama producers are drawing attention to the stories of thousands of Syrians who endured a long journey across Europe to escape war.

And they are doing that with the help of an eleven foot puppet of a Syrian girl called Little Amal - which means 'hope' in Arabic.

The puppet has been following the route of refugees fleeing war, starting on Syria's border with Turkey. It arrived in Kent on Tuesday and will then travel to London and onwards to Manchester.

It has been made by the creators of the mechanical horses in the War Horse stage show.
