Adele has given fans a teaser of her long-awaited album after a six-year hiatus from releasing music.

The multi-Grammy award-winning singer shared a short black and white video on Instagram and Twitter featuring the opening bars of a piano-led track titled Easy On Me.

Adele, 33, confirmed in the post that the song would be released on October 15.

In the clip, the singer is seen wearing her trademark black winged eyeliner before she inserts a cassette into a car stereo.

She then drives down a country lane while pieces of paper fly out of the windows of her car.

The snippet points towards the emotive kind of piano ballad the south London singer is best known for - but the video cuts out before any vocals are heard.

The new album will be Adele's first since she released the hit 25 in 2015 - but she had previously confirmed she was working on new music.

Speculation began swirling online that music could be coming last week after the number 30 appeared on billboards and was projected onto famous landmarks around the world – including in Dubai, Ireland, France, Italy and the US.

The Someone Like You singer fired up the rumours further by updating her social media accounts and website on Monday.

Her Twitter and Instagram pages showed a blue and turquoise pattern with her biography containing a link to her website, which urged fans to sign up to for more information.

After fans spotted the change in Adele’s online presence, the hashtag #Adele30 began trending.

All three of her studio albums so far have been named after the milestone ages she hit during the creative music process.

The singer hinted her fourth album would be titled 30 in a 2019 post on Instagram, jokingly telling fans: “30 will be a drum and bass record to spite you all.”

Adele, who headlined Glastonbury festival in 2016, announced her split from charity boss Simon Konecki in April 2019.

Their divorce was finalised in March this year and they share custody of eight-year-old son Angelo.

The singer recently appeared to confirm a relationship with US sports agent Rich Paul, who represents NBA players like LeBron James, after she posted a photo of them at a wedding in September.
