Covid deaths in UK rise by 61 as 30,825 new cases reported

A further 61 people have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Monday, bringing the UK total to 134,261, it has been confirmed.

Additionally, there have been a further 30,825 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have now been 158,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Government data up to September 12 shows that of the 92,487,365 Covid jabs given in the UK, 48,439,272 were first doses, a rise of 14,955 on the previous day.

Some 44,048,093 were second doses, an increase of 52,615.

England

Cases rose by 21,077 in England, while the death toll increased by 32 to 117,803.

Wales

There were 4,308 new cases recorded in Wales and 21 deaths.

Scotland

No new deaths were reported in Scotland, where cases rose by 4,241. The death toll remains at 8,242.

Northern Ireland

The Department of Health confirmed 1,199 positive cases and eight deaths.
