ParalympicsGB have bagged three golds on day 10 of the Tokyo Paralympics 2020, bringing their medal tally at the games to more than 100.

Canoeist Emma Wiggs won her first Paralympics gold medal in the VL2 va’a discipline of paracanoe, etching her name in history, with GB team-mate Jeanette Chippington taking bronze.

Athletes Jonathan Broom-Edwards and Owen Miller also won gold medals in their events.

Miller claimed his gold for the 1500m. The 29-year-old Scotsman, who finished sixth at the 2019 World Championships, crossed the line in a winning time of 3:54.57.

Meanwhile, 33-year-old Jonathan Broom-Edwards claimed gold for GB in the T64 high jump, his season’s best of 2.10m.

"I am so emotional," he said, "To just get it right at the right time, I am so relieved, elated, excited and crying my eyes out.

“I’ve been striving for that gold for years. They were horrible conditions so I tried to keep my cool and get it right when it counted. And I am so proud of myself."

Canoeist Robert Oliver also took a bronze medal, 13 years after he suffered from medical negligence, which lead to the amputation of his right leg after an innocuous tackle in amateur football.

Birmingham-born Oliver was the only British paddler not to win a medal at Rio 2016 and a major doubt for Tokyo having contracted coronavirus just five weeks before the Games.

However, in a great ending to his Paralympic career, Oliver came third in the KL3 200m kayak final.

Wheelchair tennis stars Gordon Reid and Alfie Hewett won silver medals in the wheelchair tennis doubles event.

They will return to court at the Ariake Tennis Park on Saturday to face each other in the bronze medal singles match, having lost semi-finals on Thursday.

Other GB silver medallists include Sophie Unwin and her pilot Jenny Holl in the women's B road race and, for the class 6-7, table tennis team of Will Bayley and Paul Karabardak.

Athlete Hannah Taunton claimed bronze in the women’s race with a personal best. The 30-year-old – who incidentally hails from Taunton in Somerset – finished in 4:35.34.

Beth Munro has also become Britain's first Paralympic medallist in taekwondo. The 28-year-old from Liverpool will face four-time world champion Lisa Gjessing of Denmark in the -58kg final at 13:00 BST.

The ParalympicsGB team have won 107 medals so far, including 37 golds, 32 silvers, and 38 bronze medals.
