Paralympics: Maisie Summers-Newton's swimming club goes wild as she smashes world record
As ParalympicGB swimmer Maisie Summers-Newton smashed a world record in Tokyo, celebrations and tears erupted back at home in Northampton.
Supporters gathered at Maisie's club, the Northampton Swimming Sensations, to watch her claim gold in the women's 200m medley SM6.
"It was very exciting, especially as I've seen her and met her before and now she's on the world stage," 11-year-old Mia told ITV News.
Maisie's coach gets emotional after the victory
Maisie's coach teared up after watching her make history.
"She's got a big heart. She wasn't going to give up," Andy Sharp said.
"She's European champion, world champion, now Paralympic champion... just looking forward to seeing her on top of that podium - best in the world."
