Covid: UK records more than 39,000 new cases and 19 further deaths

A further 19 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Monday, bringing the UK total to 128,727.

As of 9am, there were also another 39,950 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have been 154,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

England

Government data shows that 15 more people in England have died of coronavirus, bringing the country's death toll to 113,175.

A further 34,657 people have tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of cases in England to 4,769,632.

Scotland

Scotland has recorded no new deaths of coronavirus patients but 1,464 new cases in the past 24 hours, the latest Scottish government figures show.

The number of people who have died having first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days is still 7,800.

Wales

Public Health Wales has reported 2,053 new cases. This takes the total number of cases in the nation to 232,672.

Three new deaths have been reported and the death roll has risen to 5,589.

Northern Ireland

One new death has been reported in Northern Ireland but a further 1,776 people have tested positive for coronavirus.

The total number of cases in the nation is now 140,322.
