Falconer sisters Connie and Elsie Ballam are helping save struggling birds of prey
Meet Connie and Elsie Ballam, the sisters hoping to bring back a struggling species of bird. The young falconers are part of ‘Project Lugger’, an initiative to conserve and breed lugger falcons.Lugger falcons are classed as ‘near threatened’, as a loss of habitat and food to hunt has led to its population declining by around 80% in recent years. The Dorset-based duo work with their dad at the family-run Falconry Park, to teach people about the bird of prey and raise awareness for its protection.
