The 200-year-old bridge still connecting England and Scotland
Video report by ITV News Correspondent Clare McNeill
When you're 200 years old, you've seen pandemics come and go. But the more things change, the more they stay the same for the Union Chain Bridge, on the border between England and Scotland. Built in 1820, it still carries traffic over the River Tweed today - the eve of its 200th birthday. It was the first suspension bridge of its kind anywhere in the world to carry vehicles. In June, it was awarded a Guiness World Record for the oldest suspension bridge still carrying traffic. Restoration work was due to begin in February but due to the coronavirus outbreak, that has now been pushed back until September.
