Wearing a face mask in public places in response to coronavirus has become the 'new normal' in the UK and across the world.

And some people have found some weird and wacky ways to wear their masks with to express their style.

San Francisco artist Danielle Baskin initially designed her 'Maskalike' selfie mask as a joke solution for people to activate facial recognition software on their phones while wearing face coverings.

On a Twitter post, she said that the mask has received mixed reaction.

"Half of people who noticed said Awesome and laughed! The other half was horrified and looked at me in terror. This is the spirit of our time," she said.

Now, she has been inundated with requests and is set to launch her company and has even come up with other designs including memes and classical art.

Miss Baskin said: "Our masks are sure to make people around you do double-takes and have a brighter day."

While some might like a selfie, others are using mandatory face masks as a way to experiment with a new look.

But for some, what lies beneath the mask is just as dramatic.

And these face coverings ensure that people know you're always smiling:

Meanwhile, others are finding dramatic ways to give passersby a double take.

And animal lovers are going wild with their face masks.

Face coverings will be mandatory in shops and supermarkets in England from July 24 and from last month, people travelling on public transport had to wear masks.
