Johnny Depp accused Amber Heard of defecating in their bed, High Court hears

Johnny Depp called his wife 'Amber Turd' and accused the actress of defecating in their bed, the High Court has heard.

The Pirates of The Caribbean actor was questioned on a “defecation incident”, when faeces were found in his and Amber Heard’s bed in their LA penthouse.

Sasha Wass QC, representing NGN, began Friday’s hearing by asking Depp about finding faeces in the couple's bed.

The barrister suggested that Boo, one of the couple’s two Yorkshire terriers, “had problems with her toilet habits”. The actor said the dogs “were very well trained”, but that “Boo was not as trained as Pistol”, their other dog.

Ms Wass said to Mr Depp that “it came to your attention the following, that was the day of Amber’s actual birthday, that the cleaner had found faeces in the bed”.

The court heard that Mr Depp sent a text with photographs of the faeces, which the actor found “hilarious”, in which he said: “Not sure I’ve laughed that hard for years. At least the photos are hilarious.”

The Pirates Of The Caribbean star is suing The Sun’s publisher News Group Newspapers (NGN), and its executive editor Dan Wootton, over an April 2018 article which labelled him a “wife beater”.

The Hollywood star is expected to finish giving his evidence on Friday, having spent around 15 hours in the witness box so far.

Depp, 57, previously told the High Court that the couple’s tumultuous relationship was “a crime scene waiting to happen”, and admitted “accidentally” headbutting his ex-wife and accused Ms Heard, 34, of “building a dossier” to support her “hoax” allegations.

She said: “As I understand it, she has put her heads together with various other people to make it look as if you were a wife beater, when the reality is that you weren’t.” Mr Depp said that was the case.

The barrister then said: “There were jokes like ‘Amber Turd’, ‘Amber in the dumps’ going on”.

Mr Depp replied: “It was one of the most absurd, unexpected statements that I have ever witnessed in my life so, yes, initially I did laugh because it was so strange.”

Depp was asked about Ms Heard's 30th birthday celebrations, on April 22, 2016, the same day he had an appointment with his accountant - which caused him to miss the start of the "important event".

Sasha Wass asked: “Your account of this evening is that you went to bed after the guests had gone and you were reading… no conversation with Ms Heard?

Johnny Depp replied: “Ms Heard was venting how upset she was that I was so late for her birthday dinner and that I had made a fool of her and that I didn’t care and everybody was talking about how awful it was of me to do such a thing and it ramped up and became aggressive… she was very, very angry.”

Depp was asked about an appointment with he had with his accountant on the same day as Heard's 30th birthday celebrations, which caused him to miss the start of the "important event".

NGN relies on 14 alleged incidents of domestic violence towards Ms Heard, which Mr Depp denies, in their defence against the actor’s libel claim.
