Girl creates book with glasses-wearing princess after realising no Disney heroine wears spectacles
An 11-year-old girl felt there was something missing when she looked at her favourite Disney princesses – unlike her, none of them wore glasses.
Lowri Moore said this made her feel as though she wasn’t beautiful enough, so like many modern Disney princesses, she took matters into her own hands and wrote a book with a heroine who wears glasses.
She told ITV News: “I always took my glasses off for that [dressing up]…I thought, I'm pretty without my glasses, I don't want them anymore.”
When she was nine-years-old, she wrote to Disney to complain, but when they did not respond, she created her own character – Princess Rose – who is proud of her golden spectacles.
“I always wanted to make a difference,” Lowri said.
The fairytale ending would be a response from Disney, but for now she’s proud to have created the first princess who looks just like her.
