1.5 million graves prepared in South Africa's midwinter coronavirus crisis

In what is their midwinter, coronavirus cases in South Africa are approaching a quarter of a million.

So far 3,500 have died but the province that includes Johannesburg and its townships is making ready a scarcely believable 1.5 million graves, the virus, and associated lockdown, has made township life harsher than ever.

A World Food Programme report says millions across Africa will be left without enough to eat.

There are fears that it may not be coronavirus, but the associated lockdown and impact on the economy which could be the big killer in South Africa.
