Storm Gareth moving away but windy weather to stay

A very windy start with severe gales across the north easing as Storm Gareth moves away.

Most will stay windy though with sunny spells and scattered showers, these heavy and blustery and hail in places as well as some snow over northern hills.

With strong winds it will feel cold with a high of 11 Celsius (52 F).

Showers will tend to ease through the day, but further rain and strong winds will push across Northern Ireland and western Scotland later.
