Duchess of Sussex makes first visit to National Theatre after being made patron

The Duchess of Sussex has made her first visit to the National Theatre after being made patron of the organisation.

Meghan was bestowed the patronage earlier this month from Her Majesty The Queen, one of two handed down from the head of state to the American-born princess.

The Duchess, a strong believer in using arts to bring people together, joined a workshop with members of the Pericles company, a group of six professional actors and 200 members of the public bringing new life to a classic Shakespeare play.

Meghan, a former actress, watched as people from neighbourhoods across London took part in a workshop in a rehearsal space.

The duchess, who is heavily pregnant, was greeted by Rufus Norris, director of the National Theatre, who held a private meeting with her in December ahead of the patronage announcement earlier this month.
