Yates set to become second Briton to win La Vuelta after extending lead

Simon Yates is set to become the second Briton to win La Vuelta after extending his lead ahead of Sunday's largely processional final stage into Madrid.

Yates finished third in the gruelling 20th stage in Andorra while his main rival for the title, Ernesto Valverde, finished almost three minutes adrift.

The Bury rider, who started the day one minute and 28 seconds ahead of Valverde, extended his lead in the general classification to just under two minutes, with stage winner Enric Mas moving up to second place.
