Some of football's modern greats have appeared in a form never seen before by even the biggest of fans.

Stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona take centre stage at an exhibition portraying football's heroes as historic military leaders.

Donned in attire of times gone by, the portrait exhibition in Russia shows the likes of Wayne Rooney and John Terry in a whole new light.
