A rehearsal for the royal wedding has taken place at Windsor.

It came as Meghan Markle confirmed that her father would not be attending the ceremony on Saturday.

Some 250 members of the armed forces are expected to take part in the weekend's festivities, lining the streets as the newlywed Prince Harry and Meghan head on a 25-minute carriage ride through the town.

After months of planning, Thursday’s dry-run gave organisers a chance to put some finishing touches to the global event.

Spectators lined the streets where the dry-run was held on what turned out to be a sunny morning.
