Chris Froome has held the leader's red jersey at La Vuelta for six days and currently holds a 36-second advantage over closest rival Esteban Chaves.

ITV Cycling caught up with him, Esteban Chaves and Simon Yates on the rest day in Spain:

Chris Froome surprised everyone after announcing he would compete in La Vuelta so soon after victory in the Tour de France, but after leading during the first week in Spain the Team Sky rider says he does not fear running out of gas.

After tough Tour de France, Esteban Chaves admitted he was worried about re-discovering his form in time for La Vuelta, but says the backing of his team has helped him hugely during a strong first week in Spain.

Orica-Scott rider Simon Yates admitted he has felt a little fatigued as a result of the Tour de France during this year's La Vuelta but is looking forward to what the team has planned for the coming days in Spain.

La Vuelta resumes on Tuesday with stage 10 seeing the riders tackle the 164.8km route from Caravaca to El Pozo, we'll have highlights at 7pm on ITV4.
