Elderly man dies in hospital after tree hits car during Storm Doris
A pensioner critically injured by a falling tree during Storm Doris has died in hospital, West Mercia Police have said.
The man, who was in his 80s, died at the Royal Stoke University Hospital on Sunday, three days after the Ford Focus he was travelling in was hit by a tree near Church Stretton in Shropshire.
The victim, who has not been named, was a front seat passenger in the car which was being driven by a 75-year-old man.
Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened on February 23 on the A49 around a mile north of Church Stretton.
A 29-year-old woman died during Storm Doris after she was hit by a piece of wooden roofing in Wolverhampton.
