Five contenders to replace Mike Phelan at Hull City
Hull are targeting a new manager after Mike Phelan was sacked on Tuesday night.
Here are five contenders to take charge of the Premier League's bottom club.
Gary Rowett
It came as a surprise when Rowett was sacked by Birmingham last month, given he looked to have done well at St Andrew's and was growing his reputation. The former Burton boss has yet to manage in the top flight so it might be considered a gamble, but that may be exactly what Hull need to take given their perilous position. He was made the early bookmakers' favourite.
Alan Pardew
Another who lost his job in December, Pardew left Crystal Palace after a tough 2016 for the Eagles. He made a terrific impact on his arrival at Selhurst Park two years ago, and Hull need similar to stand any chance of extending their stay to a second Premier League season.
Roy Hodgson
The former England manager is keen to work again in the Premier League and predicted he will be a better boss for his experience with the Three Lions. A class act, with heaps of experience.
Harry Redknapp
Former Tottenham, West Ham and Portsmouth boss Redknapp has led rescue efforts before, and as he approaches 70 has suggested he would fancy another shot at management. Whether Poole-based Redknapp would fancy Hull, or vice versa, remains to be seen.
Ryan Giggs
The Manchester United great is keen to take his first steps in management, having served as number two to Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford. He lost out on the Red Devils job to Jose Mourinho and has yet to be given the chance to try his luck as a number one in the dugout.
