Duchess of Cambridge joins Cub Scouts to celebrate movement's 100th birthday

The Duchess of Cambridge joined a group of Cub Scouts to help them celebrate the organisation's 100th birthday.

Wearing a yellow Cub scarf she played games with the group, all from the King's Lynn area of Norfolk, including one with a multi-coloured parachute.

When tasked with writing something positive about themselves, the Duchess wrote: "I am good at...Bonfire Building".

She also played patient for a Cub Scout practicing using their neckerchief as a sling to support a broken arm.

The Duchess also helped decorate birthday cupcakes and renewed the Cub Scout Promise with the group.

She told the Cubs: "It's been a real treat for me as well to come to see all of you here and keep up the hard work because you're doing all the hard work helping other people, helping each other and things so keep it up, and happy Christmas to you all."

The Cubs presented her with a bouquet of flowers and two teddy bears - one dressed in a Cub Scout outfit and the other in a Beaver outfit - for George and Charlotte.

The Duchess worked as a volunteer with a Cub Scout pack when she and the Duke of Cambridge lived in Anglesey, North Wales.

The Scout Association's Chief Commissioner for England, Alex Peace-Gadsby said: "We're thrilled that the Duchess has been able to join us as we celebrate the Cubs' 100th birthday."The official birthday of the Cub Scouts is on December 16, with events planned across the United Kingdom.

There are almost 160,000 Cub Scouts across the UK, while more than half a million people are involved with the Scout Association.
