Drug dealer who posed for selfies with wads of cash jailed
A drug dealer who took selfies with wads of cash from his crimes has been jailed for six years.
In the pictures 27-year-old Jason Smith can be seen posing triumphantly, with his tongue out, clutching fanned out £10 and £20 notes he gained from drug dealing.
The image was found on a media player when police arrested Smith for possession of cannabis in a Kent property on October 24 last year.
Around 1,500 ecstasy tables, with a street value of up to £15,000, and other drug traces including amphetamine were also seized from the Milton Regis High Street property.
Maidestone man Smith, of Boxley Road, was jailed at Maidstone Crown Court on December 2 after he was found guilty of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.
"If there had been any doubts that Jason Smith was benefiting financially from the sale of Class A drugs, they were erased by the photos he took of himself holding such large quantities of cash," said Detective Constable Phil Pead.
"He was clearly very pleased with himself and displayed little concern for the customers whose health he helped put at risk by supplying them with such a dangerous product."
He continued: "Hopefully he will ask himself if it was really worth it while he spends the next few years behind bars."
