Syrian girl Bana tweets she 'almost died' after her home is destroyed by bombing

A seven-year-old Syrian girl who live-tweets her daily battle for survival in Aleppo has said she "almost died" after her house was destroyed by bombing overnight.

Bana al-Abed wrote: "Tonight we have no house, it's bombed & I got in rubble."

She added: "I saw deaths and I almost died."

Bana's mother Fatemah, who helps her daughter tweet, also posted messages fearing they would her last.

In one tweet, she said: "The army got in, this could be our last days sincerely talking. No Internet. Please please please pray for us."

Another added: "Last message - under heavy bombardments now, can't be alive anymore.

"When we die, keep talking for 200,000 still inside. BYE."

Bana - who dreams of being a teacher - has more than 131,000 followers after sharing her experience of living through war on Twitter.

Her family are among thousands trapped inside the rebel-held city of Aleppo which is being bombarded by Syrian government troops and their Russian allies.

Two months ago Bana tweeted her friend was killed when her house was bombed saying: "I miss her so much."

In an interview with ITV News she pleaded with the world to "listen to us" saying "we are children, we have a right to live".

Syrian president Bashar al-Assad accused Bana of "not being a credible source" saying her tweets were being promoted by "terrorists or their supporters".

Bana responded: "Sir Assad, I'm not a terrorist, I just want to live and no bombing please."
