Boyfriend of Whitney Houston's daughter ordered to pay $36m for her wrongful death
Nick Gordon, the boyfriend of Whitney Houston's daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, has been ordered to pay $36m (£29m) in damages for her wrongful death.
Brown, 22, died in July 2015, six months after she was found face down and unresponsive in a bath by Gordon and a friend at her home in Atlanta.
An autopsy found her cause of death was due to drug intoxication and the immersion of her face in the water.
In September, a Fulton County Superior Court Judge ruled Gordon was legally responsible by default after he failed to attend several court hearings.
Gordon was also not in court on Thursday.
The family of Brown filed a lawsuit against Gordon in August last year which alleged that he gave her a "toxic cocktail" before putting her face down in the tub.
Gordon had denied the allegations and said he tried to save his girlfriend's life.
He has never faced criminal charges over Brown's death.
