Soldier 'seriously injured' after stabbing in army barracks

A 26-year-old soldier is being treated in hospital for a "serious injury" after he was stabbed in a military barracks.

Two men, aged 22 and 19, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the incident at Mons Barracks in Princes Avenue, Aldershot.

The incident, which took place at 6.15am on Saturday, is not being treated as terrorism related.

The victim is receiving treatment at St George's Hospital in London.

A Hampshire police spokeswoman said: "A 22-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, both from Aldershot, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

"They have been bailed pending further inquiries until January 2017."
