Prince Charles takes part in sword dance to kick off Middle East tour

Prince Charles grabbed a sword and donned his dancing shoes for a ceremonial performance kicking off his official tour of the Middle East.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were honoured with a cultural welcome upon arrival at the Ceremonial Boulevard in Muscat, Oman.

Five groups of performers showcased dances from different regions of the country.

The prince was given a sword and joined in with a group performing an Al Razha dance, while Camilla was presented with flowers.

The royal couple have set off on the tour at the request of the British government, to help promote and encourage partnerships with the UK on issues including wildlife conservation and supporting women in leadership.

They will undertake 50 engagements in seven days during their visits to the Sultanate of Oman - where they are staying as guests of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said - the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
