British man bets £37k on Trump win in US election
A British man has gambled £37,000 on Donald Trump becoming the next US President - prompting bookies to slash their odds just days before the election.
The mystery man visited a branch of William Hill in Nottingham on Thursday, placing a £15,000 bet on Trump winning at odds of 7/4.
Hours later, he returned to the same branch and put another £22,000 on his bet at the same odds - meaning he's in line to pocket £64,750 should Trump triumph on Tuesday.
William Hill has now cut the odds to 13/8.
A spokesman for the company said the bets were the two biggest received in favour of Trump - though there have been two bigger bets on a Hillary Clinton win, at 550,000 euros and £183,200 respectively.
"The market was moving towards Donald Trump at the time, and the two bets prompted the cut in price," he added.
