Broadchurch and Granchester actor jailed for sexual assaults on 'vulnerable' victims

An actor who appeared in hit series Broadchurch and Grantchester has been jailed for a trio of sexual assaults on "vulnerable, lone" women.

Nyakeh Kpaka, better known as Nakay Kpaka, attacked two victims on separate occasions whilst they slept at house parties.

Kpaka, 26 - who starred in ITV's Broadchurch alongside David Tennant and Olivia Colman according to IMDb - attacked the women in the Finsbury Park and Blackheath areas between December 2014 and May 2015.

Both victims said they had awoken in a bed to find Kpaka assaulting them.

Kpaka, from Wood Green, north London, has now been jailed for eight years after being convicted of three counts of sexual assault by penetration.

At Woolwich Crown Court, Kpaka, who also appeared in ITV series Grantchester alongside Robson Green, argued one of the attacks was consensual while denying the other took place.

Police were initially called last year after one woman claimed she awoke at a house party to find Kpaka in bed assaulting her.

During that investigation, a second victim came forward alleging Kpaka had assaulted her.

Detective Constable Peter Thompson from the Met's Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command said Kpaka had attacked his victims whilst they were unawares.

"Kpaka is a dangerous sexual predator who has attacked vulnerable lone women whilst they were sleeping in bed at two different house parties", DC Thompson said.

"Thankfully he has now been caught and convicted and is serving a prison sentence".

Kpaka played Jonah Bishop in series two of Broadchurch and Walter Stirling in series two of Grantchester.
