Tom Jones: I still dream that my wife is alive

Sir Tom Jones has described how he wakes up to fresh heartache over the death of his wife after dreaming that she is still alive.

The singer lost his wife Lady Melinda Rose Woodward to cancer earlier this year after a marriage lasting 59 years.

He opened up about his continuing mourning as he said he could not imagine finding a new relationship.

"I hear her voice. I see her a lot at night," he told the Sunday People.

He admitted he could not even begin to think about finding another partner, saying: "I haven't even thought about that - I really haven't."

Sir Tom said he had doubted whether he would ever be able to sing again after learning that his wife was terminally ill with lung cancer.

"It's still hard. I didn't know whether I'd be able to get up on stage and be emotional with songs, especially songs that she liked," he said. "But I can be and it's lifted me up and she's there."

Sir Tom will soon be back on TV when The Voice UK switches to ITV and airs next year.

The veteran coach will be joined by will.i.am and newcomers Jennifer Hudson and Gavin Rossdale in the famous red revolving chairs.

He previously slammed the BBC for dropping him in 2015 and said he has not received an apology.
